Testing confirmed all algae, bacteria and fungi eliminated. DO before treatment 3.8ppm; after treatment 16ppm
Mount Pleasant, South Carolina (2018)
Problem: Nostoc Algae (Cyanobacteria) – green with brownish biofilm layer which provides a protective barrier.
Test Undertaken National Ocean Service/NOAA Hollings Maring Laboratory to confirm ability to eradicate Nodularia (Blue-Green Algae) prior to treating the Mount Pleasant Lakes that were thick with Nostoc Algae. Nodularins are potent toxins produced by the cyanobacterium Nodularia spumigena. This aquatic, photosynthetic cyanobacterium forms visible colonies that present as algal blooms, often referred to as Blue-Green Algae. Tests undertaken at the laboratory confirmed that after 16 minutes with Naias process all algae, bacteria and fungi were eliminated.
